Regarded as one of the most influential surrealists, René Margritte was well-known for his witty style in turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. For the first time in Asia and Europe, the exhibition revealedintimate parts of  the painter’s life and creative process by featuring more than 100 photographs and films.

The chessboard was used as a key element in the design, inspired by the iconic photograph of Margritte, The Giant (Le Géant) (Paul Nouge at the Belgian Coast, 1937). It symbolizes a medium connecting Margritte and the audience, which allows us to take a glimpse into his life, meanwhile, revealing the story behind his creations.

We embraced the philosophy of the leading Belgian artist by adding our own subtle touches into the type, crafting delicate details into the design—there is always something more than meets the eye.
