Exhibited in the Wharf Internship Exhibition are nine benches, each of them an iteration to convey the relationship between design and its user, as well as aesthetic and practicality. In view of that, the exhibition visuals play on the form of the Chinese character of the word ‘nine’ as a key visual, evoking similar interactions between visual and pictorial.
The other underlying theme of the exhibition is sustainability, especially in the material used, as well as the simplistic and timeless forms of the benches. The blue swirling pattern on the exhibition board is derived from tree rings, emphasising the materiality of the works displayed. The undulating pattern is also to complement the location of Habour City being next to the sea, creating an avant-garde yet familiar exhibition space.
